NSSOT is proud to have a strong working relationship with the School of Occupational Therapy at Dalhousie University. We are continually trying to strengthen this relationship by creating opportunities for student involvement in many initiatives. We have a total of six student positions, two from each year, as non-voting members of the executive. These student members represent the interests of the student body at the monthly executive meetings. These student members also represent the interests of NSSOT at the monthly Dalhousie Occupational Therapy Student Society (DOTSS) meetings.
Membership to NSSOT is not only offered to licensed occupational
therapists, but to students as well. Students can become members
of NSSOT and receive the same benefits as licensed occupational
therapists.
Benefits to students include:
- Mentorship Program
- Access to the “Member’s Only Area” for up-to-date information on NSSOT initiatives
- Use of NSSOT resources (texts, presentations, support)
- Opportunity to apply for financial resources (including NSERF Grant, as well as Special Committees/Projects Funds)
- Inclusion on our listserv - main method to inform members of education events, committee information
- Enhanced opportunity to network with occupational therapists across NS
