Occupational Therapy Sensory Processing Disorder Network discussion board has been launched!
The Occupational Therapy Sensory Processing Disorder Network (OTSPED) was created to promote, develop, and support the role of occupational therapy and occupational therapists in the provision of evidence informed assessment and intervention for those with sensory processing disorders. In an effort to support those therapists registered with CAOT with an interest in SPD, a discussion board has been launched to share knowledge and experience. Once signed in to CAOT, click on the link OTSPD Discussion Board to participate!
NSSOT Reply: Consumer letter regarding Occuaptional Therapy in Mental Health
I wanted to take the opportunity to let you know about a new resource that is available for hip and knee replacement patients. Launched in July and available at http://mysurgery.nshealth.ca , the website shows people what to do and what to expect from the time their family physician refers them to an orthopaedic surgeon to the recovery and rehabilitation period after surgery.
The website was funded by Health Canada and created by the Nova Scotia Department of Health in collaboration with clinicians from each of the District Health Authorities that provide orthopaedic surgery. Covering over 90 topics, the website reflects the Nova Scotia context and provides local information where appropriate. In regard to occupational therapy, the website includes custom videos and text descriptions of performing activities of daily living after surgery and during the recovery period. You can find these under In Hospital > Getting Mobile, and At Home > Resuming Daily Activities.
I have attached a brief overview of the website that you are welcome to share with your Board and members. Any feedback on the website is welcome and can be sent to me or to mysurgery@nshealth.ca .
